Anton Obbens Anton Obbens was born in Brabant and came to study at the Hotelschool The Hague directly after graduating highschool. During his study, Anton worked a lot for Basics Horeca Uitzenbureau as a temporary employee. He also worked for the Protocolbureau, which gave him the oppurtunity to assist at the wedding of the Crown Prince of the Netherlands and Prinsess Maxima and at state funerals of the Royal Family. Next to this, Anton worked several seasons as Assistant Head Security and as a Translator in a big resort in France.
Furthermore, Anton worked for several catering companies and at the F&B Department of the prestigious President Wilson Hotel in Genève. After working in Genève, he continuated his career at Kloosterhuis Hospitality Advisors, where he started as Junior Consultant.
In the beginning of 2004, Anton started working as Head Planning at Basics Horeca Uitzendbureau in The Hague and after a year he was given the oppurtunity to help with establishing Basics Hospitality Recruitment.
Because the hospitality industry is Anton’s passion, he tries to remain updated of everything happening in the business. To guarantee this, Anton is an active member of different (inter)national hospitality network organizations.
Heleen de Haas Heleen was born and raised in Zeeland. After graduating highschool, Heleen decided to travel in Australia for a year before studying at the Hotelschool The Hague. During her study Heleen has worked in various restaurants in The Hague, but she also worked a lot for Basics Horeca Uitzendbureau as a temporary employee.
Heleen started working as a Banquet Sales Coordinator at the 5* Dusit Laguna Beach Resort in Thailand before working for TUI in the Netherlands. At TUI she had the shared responsibility for the preparation and organisation of all trips, tours and stay-overs of internationally well known footballclubs for the UEFA Cup and Champions League.
Heleen got the opportunity to start working as an Intermediate at In Person, a temporary employment agency in Rotterdam. Heleen became Branch Manager shortly after that, but as a result of her previous relation with Basics, she got involved in the establishment of Basics Hospitality Recruitment.
At the moment, Heleen is appointed as Secretary of the Assiociation for Alumni of Acknowledged International Hotelschools in the Netherlands (V.O.L.) and has had the shared responsibilty for the coordination of Pimp your Career and several other hospitality related events.
Ank Teuwen Ank Teuwen (1969) grew up in Haarlem. In 1988 she started at the Hotelschool The Hague. After graduating Ank worked as a Stewardess for KLM during a year. When coming back to the Netherlands from this ‘paid’ world trip, she worked as an Operational Manager in several restaurants and for big catering companies in The Netherlands and abroad.
Since 1997 Ank is shared owner of Basics Horeca Uitzendbureau. In the meantime, Basics has grown into a mature organisation with 4 offices across the Netherlands.
As a result of several years of experience in the recruitment business, done by the employment agency next to the normal activities, it was in 2005 that Basics made the official decision to establish Basics Hospitality Recruitment as a separate organisation. In this short official existence, Basics Hospitality Recruitment has grown into an important and successful ‘player’ in the hospitality recruitment market.
Ank is the mother of 3 children.
Mirjam Steenbrink Mirjam Steenbrink (1968) was born in Eemnes but lived in Friesland as from the age of 14. In 1989 Mirjam started her study at the Hotelschool The Hague. She did her management internship as a F&B Trainee at one of the famous cruise ships of the Holland Amerika Lijn and therefore she travelled around the world. When graduating and finishing her management internship, she decided to keep working for the Holland Amerika Lijn, but now as a Guest Relations Officer. After spending more than 3 years on a boat, Mirjam started as a Project Manager for a promotion organisation in Amsterdam. A few hectic years later, Mirjam switched to an acknowledged Advertising Agency.
In 1997 Ank and Mirjam decided together to become owners of Basics.
